We recommend all of our patients to wash their hands frequently, avoid close contact with people who are sick, and stay home if you aren’t feeling well. Pre-Screening Patients for Possible COVID-19 Symptoms
At the time of scheduling and at appointment reminders, we will ask patients if they are experiencing common COVID-19 symptoms. We will also ask if they have had any recent exposure and will question any recent travel. If necessary, patients will be asked to schedule out a minimum of two weeks.
Strict Sterilization Procedures
We have implemented strict sterilizing procedures throughout our office, particularly in communal spaces. Additionally, each staff member maintains rigorous personal hygiene standards including hand washing between each patient interaction, and refraining from hand shaking at this time. We use hospital-grade disinfectants across the entire office, with room cleaning after each patient to ensure a safe and clean environment.
Elmhurst Orthopaedics, SC is requiring everyone who enters the practice – both patients and staff – to wear an appropriate face covering. Our office will communicate this requirement to patients at the time of scheduling an office visit. Please inform us when scheduling your appointment if you have any respiratory disease or condition that may create difficulties with reduced airflow through face coverings.
Maintaining Physical Distancing & Other Precautions
We have restructured our practice’s office space and workflow to encourage physical distancing. We will be making the following changes to our operations:
- Scheduling patients to limit the number of people in the office at any given time.
- Modifying waiting room seating to allow for social distancing.
- Putting away articles such as magazines that may be handled by multiple parties.
- Providing hand sanitizer for patient use in waiting area.
- Arranging office flow such that patients avoid time together in a central area or check-out desk.
- Utilizing telemedicine services when applicable.
Preservation of Personal Protective Equipment
All staff is trained on the proper use of personal protective equipment and will be utilizing all necessary PPE while in the office.

We shall adhere to the CDC Guidance for Implementing Safety Practices for Essential Workers for our employees who have had potential exposure, who show symptoms or who have contracted COVID-19.
